The grain traders association of the Hamburg exchange – Verein der Getreidehändler der Hamburger Börse e.V. (VdG) - is the official representation of the German external trade in grains, animal feed, oilseeds, fish-meal and pulses since 1868. List of our members
Service for our members
One of the major activities of the association is to represent the interests of its members towards the administration and business community in Berlin, Bonn and Brussels. For example:
- to support and promote of the common interests of the members of the association towards the administration and all government offices and the public
- consultation and elaboration of proposals for the administration
- support and exchange of information with regard to technical and economical experiences between the members
- support of the members and consultation in technical questions
- constant instruction of the members with regard to administrative laws on national and European level
Information services
Additionally to the regular circulars our members receive a
variety of regular and current information and/or reports. For example:
- grain import duties
- grain refunds or tax rates
- results of the cereals management committee of the European Commission
- EU and national food aid tenders
- concise information of the meetings of the agricultural council
- information on the various grain tenders
Arbitral tribunals
Moreover the association offers since the foundation of the arbitration committee in 1863 in Hamburg various services in the field of contracts and arbitration. The number of arbitration cases each year reflects the sectors confidence in the association to clear and solve problems related to contract questions. However it is one of our main objectives to avoid the arbitration process and to solve a problem if possible before it reaches this stage.
